Stretch Double Drop Trailers are specialized Double Drop Trailers that are designed for longer freight than normally fit on their Standard counter-part. They also tend to have 2-3 axles depending on the weight of the load.
Standard Specifications of a Stretch Double Drop Trailer
STRETCH DOUBLE DROP TRAILER LENGTH
The Stretch Double Drop Trailer is made of three decks, like the Standard Double Drop Trailer, with the front deck being 10′ long, the main deck (not really a “well”) being 29′ – 50′ long, and the rear deck being 9′ long.
STRETCH DOUBLE DROP TRAILER WIDTH
Like all Flatbed Trailers, the legal width for your freight is 8’6″. Anything over this, and you’ll need to get a permit.
STRETCH DOUBLE DROP SHIPMENT WEIGHT
The weight limit for a Stretch Double Drop Trailer is 40,000 Lbs. This is more than it’s Standard counter-part because the length allows for additional axles.
STRETCH DOUBLE DROP SHIPMENT HEIGHT
The height limit for a Stretch Double Drop Trailer is broken up into 3 parts: The front deck has a height limit of 8’6″, the middle (or main) deck has a height limit of 11′ 6″, and the rear deck can be no more than 10′. Anything higher than these, and you’ll need to get a permit.
